Everything's rosie - British grown roses
Share
It's rose season and there's lovely roses bursting into bloom in gardens across the country! Perhaps you are lucky to have some in your garden? Sadly, there are very few rose growers left in the UK and no large-scale commercial growers at all. Roses that you see for sale will have come from the tropics or some are grown in the Netherlands.
The posies this week include homegrown David Austin roses which have been cut early this morning in bud so you can enjoy them for longer. If you are familiar with 'David Austin', they specialise in growing old garden rose varieties with blousy heads and fragrance and they always have eye-catching displays at Chelsea. Although they are a British company, commercially-grown David Austin cut roses are actually grown under license in countries such as Kenya and Columbia and flown in to The Netherlands and then transported on refrigerated lorries to the UK.
Our posies always contain British grown flowers and their composition changes throughout the year using the best of what's in season. If you'd like to try us out, you can send a one-off posy to any address in the UK or you can start a new British flower subscription with us.
