British flowers including peony and guelder rose flower subscription posy

Love, honour and prosperity...

The peony

These impressive red charm peonies are a double-flowered variety and one of the first in the season to flower. Enjoy watching them open over the next day or two. Peonies are a beautiful blousy flower popular by brides wanting a romantic-looking Spring bouquet. Peonies have been admired and painted by the Chinese for over 2000 years and have come to represent love, honour and prosperity.

For the first time, I am also using the Guelder rose (Viburnum opulus) in the posies. This is a fantastic native shrub that has a lovely zesty creamy tone in dramatic contrast to the deep red flowers.
