The Christmas Posy
Share
Alongside the holly and ivy, these locally-sourced crab apples add an extra splash of red to the festive posies. Most were harvested before the cold snap and kept in the fridge to protect them from the worst of the frost. Crab apples are a symbol of fertility and can be harvested by foragers to make jellies and sauces.
Having a crab apple tree in the garden provides blossom for insects and fruit for birds, squirrels and mice. If the animals leave you any, it's also quite nice to have some ornamental mini apples to play with at Christmas. We have planted a tree in our garden but it's only producing a couple of handfuls of apples at this stage and the squirrels are very keen!
We hope you have a wonderful Christmas and perhaps you'll get the chance to relax and put your feet up. Thank you very much for supporting MeadowSweet this year, it is hugely appreciated. The first posy of 2023 will be scheduled for delivery on 6th January. There's still time to order for this date if you're thinking a MeadowSweet flower subscription would make a perfect Christmas present. Merry Christmas and see you in the New Year!
