Welcome back...

Hyacinths

A couple of weeks later than last year, it's great to see British hyacinths are now back in season. For anyone still with a sense of smell out there, they have a fantastic fresh perfume and make a welcome addition of colour and texture to this January posy.

I've also tucked in the first of our mimosa. It's said you're not supposed to cut too hard when there's still a risk of frosts but I can't help adding a sprig of yellow pom poms in there to contrast the blue. Talking of blue, hopefully we've all got past Blue Monday with flying colours so we can enjoy the days getting longer and the prospect of Spring round the corner.

What's in the posy?

Mimosa, hyacinth, tulip, daffodil, sarcococca, winter honeysuckle, choisya, box, rosemary, brachyglottis.

What's fragrant?

Hyacinth, winter honeysuckle, sarcococca, rosemary.
