Getting ready for Christmas

Getting ready for Christmas

Mum and I have been very busy this week arranging all the table decorations for the @HouseandGardenUK Spirit of Christmas fair at Olympia. This is a huge event, full of stalls with interesting and unusual gift ideas, for those who are keen to get ahead with their Christmas shopping and start getting into the festive mood. With a berry and gold colour theme, we selected British-grown rosehips, pink nerines, burgundy pinks and gold-sprayed crab apples alongside festive and scented foliage such as eucalyptus, hemlock spruce and rosemary.

I also hosted a workshop to introduce the spiral-bound bouquet technique which I think is the most useful floristry technique and is used for most bridal bouquets and vase arrangements. Each new stem helps to support the previous one, so that the arranger has good control over where each flower head will sit. We use this technique to hand-arrange all our British, seasonal flower posies before we send them out nationwide to our customers.

Perhaps our British flower subscription service could be just the thing as a thoughtful gift for a nature-lover this Christmas.
