Snowberries, or to be precise Symphoricarpos albus, are now out in the hedgerows. This plant is actually related to honeysuckle, and American Indians rubbed the berries on skin to treat burns and warts, or even under the arms as an antiperspirant! They contain saponins which have anti-carcinogenic and anti-inflammatory properties. I can't vouch for their many uses but they do add a fun seasonal component to this week's posy.
What's in the posy?
Roselily, hypericum, snowberry, ivy, heather, aster, eucalyptus, rosemary, zinnia, pittosporum, rose bud, cotinus, olive.
Roselily, eucalyptus, rosemary.
