New daffodil shoots bursting out of the ground

Winter Prep in the garden and what's in our posies this Christmas

This week’s unexpected cold snap has certainly kept us on our toes. We’ve been busy tucking in our tender seedlings with fleece to protect them from the sudden drop in temperature, such as our early sweet williams and scabious.

Now is the perfect time to dislodge the weeds and layer on manure and leaf mould to keep your soil healthy and productive. Even though we’re heading into the “dormant” season, if you look closely, tiny shoots are starting to appear, like these little daffodil shoots that are already pushing up through the soil getting ready for their springtime show.

At this time of year, when our own plot is slow down, we’re especially grateful for the incredible work of British growers that grow under glass. Thanks to them, we can continue to create our signature British grown flower posies filled with beautiful seasonal stems even during the coldest months. You can expect Lincolnshire lilies, Isles of Scilly narcissi, late season sweet williams and terrific tulips in our winter and Christmas posies.

Every posy is a seasonal surprise, showcasing the very best British flowers available each week.

If you’re looking for a thoughtful, sustainable gift this year, order our British flower posies for Christmas. You can order a one-off Christmas posy or start a flower subscription, perfect for someone who loves seasonal blooms delivered to their door.

And as a little festive treat, this week you can enjoy 20% off your one-off order or the first order of a new subscription with the code BlackFriday25.

Simply head to our posy order page, place your order, and we’ll do the rest.
