British grown lilies, spindle, gypsophila and gladioli in a glass jar

What native wood was used to make spindles?

Spindleberry

This fantastic seasonal ingredient produces shocking pink fruit with orange seeds and can be found in hedgerows and forest edges. In contrast to the white flowers, we also have copper beech this week, carefully preserved by mum so we can enjoy their coloured leaves without them dropping!
I've hurt my finger this week so I'm especially grateful to my parents who have started getting our new posy plot in shape ready for next year's growing season.

What's in the posy?

Lily, gypsophila, viburnum, gladioli, eucalyptus, narcissi, spindleberry, copper beech, brachyglottis.

What's scented?

Lily, narcissi, eucalyptus.
