MeadowSweet creates luxury, bespoke coffin flowers by commission. Sophie is a multi-award-winning sustainable florist, and she designs and makes every tribute herself, from her studio in Bournemouth, for families across Dorset, Hampshire, Surrey and the South East.
A far cry from a traditional coffin spray, her made-to-measure showstopping tributes cover the full surface of the coffin top in a natural 'growing' style for maximum floral impact. Each one is lovingly designed to be as unique as the person you're saying goodbye to and can honour aspects of their life you wish to celebrate such as the garden they tended, the colours they loved, and the places they cherished.
Sensational, seasonal and sustainable
Where possible, Sophie loves to use flowers and foliage snipped from her New Forest cutting garden and sourced from other British growers, and with special stems from further afield. Every tribute uses reusable or compostable bases, a gentler alternative to the plastic-heavy mechanics commonly used in funeral work.
A second life for the flowers
Where time and location allow, your tribute can be remade after the service into hand-tied bunches for family and friends. Sophie also works with a specialist flower-pressing artist who can preserve flowers from the tribute as framed pressed flower pictures, a lasting keepsake to remember your loved one.
Giving together
Some families invite friends and relatives to contribute towards one central coffin tribute, rather than sending separate arrangements. Together, it becomes a shared expression of love and loss, and messages from family and friends can be incorporated within the design.

Why MeadowSweet
Meadowsweet is a creamy, honey-scented British wildflower that grows close to rivers, and is in fact one of our earliest known funeral flowers. Archaeologists have found traces of meadowsweet in Bronze Age graves showing us that, even four thousand years ago, people found comfort in laying these sweet-smelling flowers alongside their loved ones. I want my designs to be like a meadow of flowers on the coffin, quite unlike the laid flat sprays more typically found in funeral work, to symbolise new life, hope and gratitude for those left behind and to ensure your loved one gets a fitting and memorable send off.
