Which flower is named after an ancient Sicilian king?

Lysimachia

These pretty white flower spikes are a type of loosestrife, named after a Sicilian king who was said to have fed it to a mad ox to calm it down. The heatwave this week has brought out the crazy cow in lot of us. I've photographed the posy in the cool of the evening! I don't recommend nibbling the lysimachia but hopefully the weekend's cooler weather will bring us all a little bit of calm. This posy also includes one of my all time favs, the beautiful blue scabious.

What's in the posy?

Hydrangea, lysimachia, lavender, marjoram, pittosporum, box, gypsophila, scabious, eryngium.

What's fragrant?

Lavender, marjoram.
